But as a new virtual assistant just starting out, it can be challenging to build your client list and finding work in the beginning. So today I’m sharing a roundup of websites and platforms to look for virtual assistant jobs.

As a freelancer, you create a profile showcasing your skill sets. Then you can either choose to find job opportunities posted on Upwork or Upwork can help match you with a client. Upwork has been used from large companies like Microsoft, Airbnb and Bissell to smaller companies who need assistance for tasks they don’t have time to do. Plus Upwork has a dedicated team to make sure only trusted jobs are posted to the site. For Upwork’s resources, they take 10% of your profits.
Fiverr
Fiverr is another online marketplace for freelancers. As a freelancer, you can find one-off jobs to package deals and you set your own pay rates. Freelancers offer a variety of services like video editing, graphic design, blog writing and much more. However, Fiverr deducts 20% from your payment for using their services.
The site also offers Pro Services where they vet each freelancer. Only 1% of applicants earn pro status which helps set you apart from other freelancers on their website. If you have years of experience, it’s a great opportunity to help you stand out from the crowd.
Fancy Hands
Fancy Hands is a marketplace dedicated to U.S.-based virtual assistants. As a virtual assistant at Fancy Hands, you provide a variety of administrative tasks like data entry, making phone calls on behalf of clients, scheduling appointments and researching topics.

The Mom Project is a digital marketplace to connect women to the workforce. Founded by Allison Robinson in 2016, Allison believes women shouldn’t have to choose between family and a career. You can join The Mom Project as a professional or as a company. What’s great about The Mom Project is each company that offers a position is like-minded when it comes to balancing family and career.
There are no requirements for candidates to be a part of the Mom Project. Although most candidates have at least an undergraduate degree and 6-12 years of experience in the workforce. ODesk is a job board for freelancers. As a business, you can post a job and its details, and ODesk users will then bid on the job. Companies can chat with you and then they make their selection for the position. It’s the perfect place to start if you’re just beginning your career in the virtual assistant space.
To begin your job search on ODesk, simply create a profile where you’ll list what skill sets you have. Once you’ve created a profile, you can start searching for jobs using ODesk’s search feature. You can filter by keyword, number of hours, location, budget and number of bids each job has.
Indeed
Indeed is not new to the job search world. But because remote jobs are on the rise, Indeed now has a number of positions that are 100% remote. For your job search, just make sure you select all remote positions. Within your profile, be sure to include virtual assistant and other keyword phrases related to what you’re looking for.
Belay
Belay is a job placement company that specializes in hiring virtual assistants, bookkeepers, social media managers and website specialists. Each contractor goes through a vetting process, and typically needs a bachelor degree and some experience either with remote or in-office work.
Equivity
Equivity is another job placement website specifically for virtual assistants. Equivity’s virtual and administrative assistants specialize in providing support to company administration, marketing and paralegal professions. Each candidate is required to have a bachelor’s degree and some work experience. It was named a top virtual assistant company by Good Hire.
Zirtual
Zirtual is a virtual assistant company that pairs you with one of their clients based on their needs and your skill sets. So you don’t have to worry about searching for clients yourself. Zirtual sets your rates for you. If you prefer to set your own rates, then this might not be for you. All Zirtual virtual assistants are required to have a college degree. Being referred by a current Zirtual client or virtual assistant is also a major plus to Zirtual.
Hire My Mom
Hire My Mom is what it says – they hire work-from-home moms to help support small businesses. Each business is vetted through the Hire My Mom team, so you know you’re applying to a quality business.
You pay a fee to get access to their job listings, but you don’t have to pay a percentage of your salary back to them like some other companies require. Though it’s money up front, it helps cut back on your competition when you apply to these specific jobs listed on the website.

People Per Hour
People Per Hour is a network of freelancers that are hired either by hour or project. The potential freelancer first needs to fill out a People Per Hour application. Then it’s reviewed by a moderator. If and when it’s approved, you’ll then begin receiving a variety of projects from their international client list. You can make up to 15 bids per month for free and can apply for more credits if you need more.
The best way to get clients on this platform is to keep your profile up to date, and consistently add your work to your portfolio within your profile. With People Per Hour’s system, they can match you with clients based on their wants and needs for a project. You can also seek out clients yourself if that’s more your style.
